Regulation of the Forensic Science Profession in South Africa

Speaker: Discussion format with several speakers

This webinar will provide a platform to discuss the regulation of the forensic science profession in South Africa. It will take the form of a few short presentations by various speakers on the following aspects: the need for regulation, the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP), and other relevant regulatory bodies in South Africa. This will be followed by an open discussion by attendees to identify the current gaps and challenges and proposed solutions. It is important for us as a forensic science community to identify the above aspects so that we can work pro-actively to address the regulation of our profession in a realistic manner. We encourage all our forensic science colleagues, especially our SAAFS members, to attend in order to contribute to this important discussion.
