Neil Morris is currently working as a Forensic Specialist for the International Committee of the Red Cross. He covers 24 African countries in which he builds the local capacity and systematically approaches the development of the national medico-legal structures to deal with the unfortunate reality of mass fatality events occurring. He also coordinates the African School of Humanitarian Forensic Action in collaboration with EAAF and the University of Pretoria.
Prior to the ICRC Neil was a Lecturer at the University of Pretoria for 9 years and consulted on the routine case work, education, research and epidemiological monitoring of the Pretoria Medico- Legal Laboratory, through the academic affiliation of the facility.
Neil has an MSc in Medical Criminalistics with Distinction (University of Pretoria), a Post Graduate Diploma in Humanitarian Assistance (Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine). He is an associate member of the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences, UK and is also a founding director of the South African Academy of Forensic Science.
